Healthcare facilities must continue to use masks

As everyone is aware, the CDC has updated its guidance regarding the use of face masks.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced today that fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear mask in most settings indoor and outdoor.

Arlington, VA – The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) is pleased to announce that bipartisan legislation to modernize Medicare coverage of chiropractic services was reintroduced April 19 in the U.S. House of Representatives.

As you may be aware, in New York there a two-year legislative cycle. As this year is the start of a new legislative cycle, we have new bill numbers for our scope modernization bill. In addition, due to changes in the Assembly, we have a new Assembly sponsor.

As previously reported, the NYS WCB continues to develop and refine their CMS-1500 and OnBoard electronic communication initiatives. These initiatives are designed to submit claims and related documentation, enhance communication, and will allow access to information in a transparent, streamlined manner.

The Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (ChiroCongress) is seeking to develop a strategic plan for the future of the Chiropractic profession through a robust stakeholder engagement process. The resulting vision and strategic plan will become a public resource that will guide the profession and its stakeholders for the next five years.

The New York State Department of Health has just released "Guidance for Facilities, Providers, and Local Health Departments Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine." Please note that chiropractors fall in outpatient care, which can begin receiving the vaccine in week 4, January 4, 2021.

Dr Michael Mestan, President of New York Chiropractic College informed the NYSCA this week that the NBCE and NYCC have agreed on a format to reinstate Part 4 of the National Boards on the NYCC campus in May of 2021.

As you may have heard, The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board is in the process of developing a new business information system, OnBoard. OnBoard will be a Better System for a Better Board – providing an intuitive, user-friendly system, increased accuracy and quality, and paperless transactions to our system participants.

NYSCA has previously communicated that the revised January 1, 2020 New York Workers' Compensation Fee Schedule included reference to an updated Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Fee Schedule.

ACA has been part of two coalitions fighting these cuts and is supporting legislation designed to place a one-year moratorium on the planned cuts, to allow congress to develop a long-term solution. Contact your federal representative here and urge them to cosponsor this legislation, H.R. 8505.

As previously reported by the NYSCA, member DCs may have received funding from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) deposited into their bank accounts which is part of the CARES Act. These relief funds were allocated to healthcare providers on the front lines of the coronavirus response. Currently, Phase 3 of the CARES Act allows healthcare providers to request additional funds.
