Seeking Faculty Member- Clinical Sciences (Pinellas Park, FL)

Job Summary
The faculty member is an officer of instruction.  The faculty member shall be prepared academically to teach students in the classroom, laboratory or clinic, and to assist students by providing appropriate counsel.  The faculty member is responsible for classroom teaching duties as assigned by the chairperson.  He/she is charged with helping students learn through the most appropriate and effective teaching methods; with assessing student learning, both didactic and practical while providing prompt feedback to the student; and recording that learning through the use of the university’s electronic course management and assessment tools.  The functions of the university require that the faculty member participate in university activities and academic functions, and in budget and curriculum formulation.  In the performance of university duties, the faculty member may be called upon to prepare and present reports and studies. 

Responsibilities

• To service as an associate of the chairperson. 
• To participate with the chairperson in maintaining and advancing curriculum content for the assigned course and the program at large. 
• To assume responsibility for participating in the vital functions of the Program, not only in its day to day operation, but also in its role as an integral part of the University; particularly with regard to Mission and Goals. 
• To serve as a model of professionalism to students, interns, and colleagues, as evidenced by exemplary conduct, dialogue and decorum. 
• To carry out all necessary administrative and reporting functions as required by University policy or assigned by the academic dean such as a syllabus, grade and attendance submission. 
• To develop educational learning objectives for the educational program(s). 
• To develop instructional materials. 
• To teach and/or facilitate the assigned hours of lecture, discussion, laboratory or clinic internship. 
• To develop evaluation instruments for the assessment of student learning and practical skills. 
• To provide feedback to the student and the Dean of the College of Professional Studies and the Assistant Deans (or designee) regarding the assessment outcomes. 
• To make time for student advising or to assist students. 
• To participate in research and publication or other scholarly activities. 
• To contribute to the Mission of the University through regular participation in a variety of activities including teaching, community involvement, committee service ad scholarly work. 
• Other duties as assigned. 
• Participate in 8 hours of faculty development annually inline with teaching and assessment. 
• Attendance at University scheduled activities such as graduation ceremonies, etc. 
• Plan or conduct special workshops or seminars. 

Qualifications

• Required
• Appropriate Master’s or doctorate degree for respective field of instruction
• Appropriate first professional degree or technical certificate for clinical classes and clinic
• Supervision
• Evidence of annual CEU credits being taken via annual submission of an updated CV
• Preferred
• Experience in higher education teaching
• Evidence of a commitment to continuing education
• Three years of teaching or chiropractic practice experience
• Service to the community
• Participation in professional organizations

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Full-time faculty position with teaching responsibilities in one or a combination of the departments of foundational sciences, clinical sciences, principles of healthcare practice, integrated chiropractic therapies, or health centers. Teaching responsibilities in the health centers includes management of patient care.

• Possess earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the field in which they are teaching from an accredited institution.
• License to practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic in New York State for teaching clinical science subjects, e.g. CLS, DIA, and TCH courses. 
• Faculty who supervise clinical experiences must possess a license to practice in any jurisdiction where they are assigned.  
• A demonstrated aptitude for teaching health science students. 
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to function in a team.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
