NYSCA Committees
There are 5 permanent committees of the NYSCA, along with other Special Committees as deemed appropriate by the NYSCA Board of Directors. The Chairperson(s) and members of each Committee are be appointed by the NYSCA President with input and the approval of the Board. The Chairperson of each committee is reviewed and appointed/reappointed with every presidential election cycle. The appointment of members is be reviewed and adjusted annually. At least one member of the Board of Directors shall serve on or as a liaison to each committee.
Additionally, Ad Hoc Committees (Work Groups or Task Forces) may be formed to address and/or complete specific tasks or functions. Work Groups and Task Forces report to the NYSCA Board of Directors through the Committee Chair.
Permanent Committees
The Association shall have, at a minimum, the following committees, which may be modified by the Board of Directors as needed to meet the needs of the Association:

Executive - is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Association and may therefore act for the full Board between its meetings, including using the special powers articulated in §5.90 if or when necessary. The Executive Committee shall be a committee of the Board

Audit - ensures that effective systems are in place to protect assets, manage risk, and prevent fraud.

Finance - ensures that the organization maintains accurate and complete financial records; works with organizational leadership to develop, recommend, and monitor the organization’s annual budget and spending plan; develops, recommends, and regularly updates financial policies and procedures, including those related to expenditures, investments, and cash management; safeguards the organization’s assets; complies with federal, state and other reporting requirements; and generally help the Board understand the organization’s finances.

Elections - oversees elections in accordance with policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors.

Nominating and Governance - announces vacancies, obtains qualified candidates for the offices on the Board of Directors, and develops election ballots; periodically reviews and recommends changes to the NYSCA Bylaws.
Special and Ad Hoc Committees
The Board of Directors may create special committees for purposes deemed appropriate by the Board. Ad Hoc Committees, which may also be called Work Groups or Task Forces, may be created by the President to consider specific or unique issues and shall exist for a specified term determined by the Board of Directors.
- Chiropractic Science, Philosophy, and Art - provides a structured forum for the open exploration of diverse perspectives related to the science, philosophy, and art of chiropractic—particularly as these relate to the evolving scope of practice in New York State.
- Clinical Practice and Research - primary advisory body to the NYSCA Board of Directors on matters related to clinical standards, protocols, and trends affecting chiropractic care in New York State.
- Electrodiagnosis - serves as a resource to the Clinical Practice Committee, the Executive Board, and the NYSCA membership on matters involving scope, ethics, best practices, and payer interactions involving electrodiagnostic services.
- Hospital & Interdisciplinary Liaison - provides expertise, outreach, and strategic recommendations to foster collaboration, support credentialing pathways, and position chiropractic as an essential partner in evidence-informed, team-based care.
- Athletics & Sports Injury - advises the Association on issues related to the treatment of athletes, injury prevention, and performance optimization, and supports the professional development of chiropractors working in athletic and sports injury contexts across New York State.
- Chronic Spine Pain - serves as a subject matter resource to the Clinical Practice Committee and the broader Association in shaping clinical guidance, educational resources, and policy recommendations related to chronic spine pain
- Education and Events - responsible for planning and overseeing continuing education (CE) programs and other educational resources for NYSCA members.
- Ethics and Professional Standards - develops and enforces guidelines for ethical behavior, investigates member complaints, and ensures that NYSCA members uphold the integrity of the profession.
- Government Affairs & Advocacy - responsible for monitoring legislative developments, engaging with lawmakers, and shaping policy that impacts chiropractic practice in New York State.
- Health Benefits & Insurance - serves as a liaison between the Association, insurance carriers, state agencies, and third-party payers to ensure that chiropractic physicians are represented and their patients have access to appropriate, equitable, and comprehensive health benefits.
- Workers’ Compensation - supports members in understanding and navigating Workers’ Compensation requirements, monitors regulatory and payer-related developments, and assists the Association in responding to policy proposals and systemic issues.
- No-Fault - provides expert input, supports member education, and advises the Association on regulatory compliance, payer practices, and policy advocacy related to No-Fault and personal injury reimbursement.
- Medicare - provides expert analysis, guidance, and advocacy support related to Medicare policies that affect chiropractic practice in New York State
- Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Accessibility - supports the Association’s commitment to fostering a profession and organizational culture that is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive for all individuals.
- Membership Recruitment, Retention, & Benefits - tasked with developing strategies to attract new members, retain existing members, and increase member satisfaction by providing valuable benefits and services.
- Early Career Professionals - serves as a conduit for feedback, a platform for community-building, and a creative partner in designing benefits, programs, and messaging that support early professional growth and retention within the Association.
- Student Membership - established to foster meaningful connections between chiropractic students and NYSCA, with the goal of enhancing student engagement, increasing awareness of professional advocacy, and promoting a smooth transition from student to full professional membership.
- Professional Affairs - serves as the liaison body between the Association and national chiropractic organizations, such as the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), ChiroCongress, and other relevant entities.
- Public Relations & Communications - responsible for managing the external and internal communication efforts of the NYSCA.
- Regulatory Compliance - established to monitor, evaluate, and advise on state and federal regulatory requirements, payer compliance mandates, and related practice obligations that impact chiropractors in New York State.
- Strategic Planning - established to support the New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) in the development, implementation, and periodic review of its strategic plan.
