New York Mask Mandate Update - 03/21/22

On March 17, 2022, the provision of the New York HERO Act requiring masking has “ended” without it being renewed. Therefore, apart from those health care settings identified by the Commissioner of Health in her recent determination (March 2, 2022) which only applies to "facilities or entities regulated under Articles 28 [Hospitals], 36 [Home Health Care Services] and 40 [Hospices] of the Public Health Law," the mask requirement does not appear to apply to private practice settings in New York State.

Please keep in mind that each local health department may impose its own regulations based on CDC guidelines and their interpretation of the state guidance. At this time, we strongly encourage you to check with your local Department of Health for clarification as to your specific, local requirements and use your best clinical judgment in making the determination regarding the use of masks in your office.

The New York Chiropractic Council and the New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) will continue to monitor the rules and regulations and share any clarification and definitive information we receive that may impact our practices.
