Soft Tissue Management with Rehabilitative Devices

The primary objective of this lecture is for participants to learn the advanced concepts and treatment methods necessary for a chiropractor to evaluate and manage connective tissue lesions. The concepts of soft tissue diagnostic and treatment procedures are briefly mentioned. Emphasis is placed on using elastic bands and rehabilitative training to help treat soft tissue disorders and treat muscular imbalances. Functional assessment, differential diagnosis and case management of soft tissue lesions are presented.

Elastic Therapeutic Taping

One will learn how elastic therapeutic tape can be used proprioceptively to encourage muscle firing and normal movement patterns, reduce inflammatory mediators, and initiate the healing cycle for acute to chronic pathologies. This non-invasive treatment encourages practitioners’ treatments to 'hold' for longer and to rehabilitate in a pain free environment. This innovative analgesic can complement most treatments of musculoskeletal pathologies. Understanding the basic anatomy of fascia, the integument nervous systems are imperative in comprehending how the tape can create biochemical changes within in the body. There will be a special anatomical focus on the process of mechanotransduction and myofascial signaling system.
