Phase 2 of State Reopening

As you are aware, “emergency chiropractic services” have been deemed an “essential business” during the COVID-19 pandemic.  We have been able to ascertain that the best interpretation of this language means, urgent and necessary chiropractic care.

Many of our members have asked when these restrictions on chiropractic care will be relaxed.  It is our understanding that the guidelines limiting treatment to urgent and necessary care will be lifted upon commencement of Phase 2 reopening.  The NYSCA will continue monitoring this situation and will keep you updated as further developments are anticipated.

The criteria for entering Phase 2 have been set by the Governor and each region is on its own schedule to meet these criteria. As of Friday 05/29/2020, 5 regions of NY are in Phase 2: North Country, Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Central New York and Mohawk Valley. It is expected that Western NY and the Capital District will meet Phase 2 requirements next week. Additional information can be verified by monitoring local news or calling the office of your County Executive.

Information on requirements during Phase 1 of reopening has been previously released on NYSCA.com. Phase 2 reopening requirements include the same social distancing, sanitizing, and screening of patients for symptoms that were in place since the emergency was declared.

Each business is to have a written plan for reopening outlining steps it will take to reduce the spread of Covid-19. The state has supplied a template that can be modified to meet the needs of your individual practice.
