Chiropractic March on Albany -- May 3, 2005

A CALL TO ACTION! ● If you are like us, you are as “mad as hell” and don’t want to take it anymore. NOW is the time to do something about it. NOW is the time to put up or shut up . . .

MARCH ON ALBANY

NOW is the time for YOU to let your legislators know that . . . Insurance carriers, HMOs, MCOs, IPA Networks and UR agents have effectively nullified the positive effects available to patient under the 1998 Insurance Equality Law . . .

MARCH ON ALBANY

NOW is the time for YOU to let your legislators know that . . . Insurance is supposed to provide patients with a “pecuniary benefit” but that the copayments patients routinely pay for chiropractic care anymore exceed the fees reimbursed by carriers such that the patient’s copayment is the only remuneration received; patient’s end up paying everything; insurers pay nothing or nearly nothing for chiropractic care. Where’s the patient’s insurance?. . .

MARCH ON ALBANY

NOW is the time for YOU to let your legislators know that . . . The 1998 Insurance Equality law gives patients access to chiropractic services that “may be subject to reasonable deductible, co-payment and co-insurance amounts, reasonable fees or benefit limits, and reasonable utilization review, provided that any such amounts, limits or review” . . . are no more restrictive” than those applicable to the services provided by other health professionals. But when the patient’s copayment pays for everything and the insurer pays nothing, patients co-payment and co-insurance amounts are not reasonable. Where is the patient’s insurance?. . .

MARCH ON ALBANY

NOW is the time for YOU to let your legislators know that . . . the NYSCA has complained bitterly to the Insurance Department over the years but the Department has taken no action; and when the NYSCA challenged these carrier’s tactics in state court, the court told the NYSCA to take our complaints back to the Insurance Department. Where is the justice?. . .

MARCH ON ALBANY

NOW is the time for YOU to let your legislators know that . . . our practices teeter on the brink of financial disaster and ruin and that we need relief in the form of the 2005 Insurance Equality Technical Corrections Bill – A.4527/S.3340 . . .
